Message of the Organizers
Update to the AIAI Community from the Organisers
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the 22nd AIAI 2026 international conference, it is a real honor and a great pleasure to welcome all Artificial Intelligence (AI) scholars who are looking for a well-established and prestigious forum to communicate and disseminate the innovative advances of their research. AIAI conference (Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations) is an IFIP event, organized annually, under the auspices of the IFIP Working Group 12.5 “AI Applications”. AI evolution is a continuous and ongoing process, encompassing diverse scientific domains. In principle, the AIAI conference aims to provide a forum for delegates from both academia and industry, offering them the chance to meet, interact, exchange novel methodologies, interesting research results and to be updated on pioneer ideas/algorithms.
We are proud to say that the IFIP AIAI international conference has been held continuously since 2004. Through the years, it has evolved to a well-respected and mature event, under the technical and scientific co-sponsorship of the AIAI community. This community comprises of an extended group of leading scientists, not only from Europe but from all over the globe.
The AIAI conference h-index for 2025 is equal to 42. This proves the novelty, the quality of the presented-published research and its important contribution to the promotion of scientific ideas, algorithms and methods, globally. The fact that the AIAI Springer Proceedings, have been downloaded more than 2,800,000 times so far, supports the robust impact of the event among the scholars of AI internationally. Most of all we wish to give the chance to all colleagues to disseminate their achievements in the AI domain to the AIAI community.
After 21 years of holding AIAI, strong links have been developed with the members of our scientific community. The colleagues who will attend the 22nd AIAI 2026 on site will have the chance to enjoy the hospitality of the organizers and to interact with other researchers. However, the ones who cannot travel to the venue have the capacity to present their research from home and to attend the presentations remotely, under the Webex platform. Nevertheless, the 22nd AIAI team has extended experience in long-distance conference organizations. We should mention that the 2020 and 2021 conferences were broadcasted 100% remotely due to Covid restrictions, whereas the 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 events were organized successfully in a hybrid mode.
The venue of the 22nd AIAI 2026, will be the amazing premises of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh) in the beautiful island of Crete, Greece. MAICh is a constituent institute of CIHEAM International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, a Mediterranean intergovernmental organization composed of 13 member states https://www.iamc.ciheam.org/
The distance between MAICh and the amazing, beautiful touristic city of Chania is only 4 Km (9 minutes by bus or less by car). The city of Chania lies along the northwest coast of Crete, about 70 km (43 min) west of the beautiful city of Rethymno. Chania is one of the most appealing and worldwide popular tourist destinations of Greece, attracting every year, all year round, thousands of visitors. Chania International Airport, also known as “Daskalogiannis” Airport, is the second busiest airport in Crete, after Heraklion Airport. It is located on the Akrotiri peninsula, about 14 kilometers east of the city of Chania. The airport is a key gateway to western Crete, serving both domestic and international flights. Chania International Airport typically handles around 3 million passengers during the summer season. In 2022, the airport processed over 2 million passengers. The airport is a major hub for international flights, particularly during peak summer months.
We are certain that once more, all of us will enjoy the hospitality of beautiful Crete, and moreover, we will be able to exchange ideas, to get to know each other better, and to interact by presenting our research achievements.
Cordially
The 22nd AIAI 2026 Chairs
