Limassol is one of the island’s main transportation hubs. The city is home to the largest port on the island, which handles almost exclusively all passenger traffic inbound and outbound the island.

Travelling to Chania by airplane

Chania International Airport is the closest airport. Heraklion can be an alternative but a bus journey would take 3 hours.

There are direct charter and scheduled flights connecting Chania with many European cities such us RYANAIR and Easyjet in the summer. More airlines connecting Chania with different international airports can be found at the Chania Airport website.

Domestic flights from Athens International Airport are also frequent and are carried out by Olympic Air, Aegean Airlines and Sky Express.

Travelling to Chania by ferry

Ferries to Chania (Souda port) leave from Athens (Piraeus port) on a daily basis. The overnight/daytime trip with BLUE STAR FERRIES takes about 9 hours. Please check the web sites for ferry schedules. Also note that there is a direct bus service connecting Athens International Airport with Piraeus port. Chania can be reached by coach from the city of Heraklion situated 145 km (90 miles) from Chania. The bus fare is about 15€ and takes about 3 hours. A taxi costs approximately 180€ – 200€. Heraklion, being the biggest city of Crete, is directly connected with charter/scheduled flights with many European cities. Flights to/from Athens are also frequent. Ferries from Piraeus travel to Herakleon every day. The overnight/daytime trip with MINOAN lines takes between 7-8 hours.

How to reach MAI.Chania from the Airport

The best way to reach MAI.Chania from the airport is to take a taxi. There is no direct line connecting MAI.Chania with the airport. The taxi costs approximately 30€. There is a taxi station just across the exit of arrivals at the airport so you don’t have to book a taxi ahead.

There is a local bus that can take you to the Central Bus Station in the city center (KTEL) from the airport. You can find the timetable at the West Crete Bus Service website.

Bus tickets from airport to Chania city centre cost 2.50€.

Then you can take a taxi from the city center and come to MAI.Chania. The cost is approximately 10€. There is a taxi station at the 1866 square about 30 meters away from the exit gate at the bus station (KTEL) on your right.

The route that connects MAI.Chania with the city center (BUS STOP AGORA, Sofokli Venizelou square – the terminal and departure stop from the city center to MAI Chania) can be found on the Chania City Bus website . Buses run on the hour and every half hour.  Additionally, bus No. 13 also departs from square 1866, which is closer to the KTEL bus station than the AGORA terminal station.

Tickets cost 1.20€ one way and should be obtained in advance at any kiosk downtown. Please take into consideration that when the ticket is purchased on the bus the price rises to 2€.

Corfu Airport

Corfu International Airport (CFU) Ioannis Kapodistrias is located in the south of Corfu Town, half a mile north of Pontikonisi.

The “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Corfu Airport serves both domestic and international flights and it is located 2,7 km away from the center of Corfu.

The route to the airport from the city center (and vice versa) lasts 10 minutes.

The majority of international flights from/to Corfu is available during the summer season.

Corfu Port

If you are traveling within Greece or nearby countries, you may consider ferry options to the port of Corfu.

The Main Port is located in Corfu Town, on the eastern side of the island.

The route to the airport from the city center (and vice versa) lasts 6 minutes.

Getting to Corfu City Center

Corfu Buses

The fastest Bus Line that connects “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Corfu Airport, Corfu Town Port and the City Center is Bus Line No15. (You can buy your ticket from the bus driver.)

From the Corfu Port there are 3 additional bus lines that connect the port with the city and the airport of the island with frequent routes, Lines No2b, No16 and No17.

Price of surcharged ticket (aboard): 1.70 €

Corfu Taxis

Taxis are available 24 hours a day (24/7).

The time it takes to get from the Airport to the City Center of Corfu is 10 minutes and the cost of the taxi is around 10 €.

The time it takes to get from the Port to the City Center of Corfu is 6 minutes and the cost of the taxi is around 6 €.

León Airport

The School of Industrial, Computer Science and Aerospace Engineering is located in the University of León, Spain. The nearest is the León Airport, around 6km away from the town of León. However, it operates only domestic flights.

Getting to León

The easiest way for international participants to travel to León, is through the Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport in the town of Madrid.

After arriving, you will need to get to the León; We recommend you to take the train (will take around 3h 30 and costs from 20€ to 70€)

You may also take a bus (will take around 4h and 30 minutes and costs from 25€ to 40€).

Of course, if you are planning to spend some more days at the Iberian peninsula, you can rent a car at the airport and then you will be at León in less than 3.5 hours.

Alternatively, you can choose to visit León through the Asturias Airport located in Castrillón. After arriving, from the available options to get to León, we recommend taking a bus (will take around 3h 4m and the cost is 17€ to 24€).

As stated before, in case you are planning to rent a car, you will reach León in somewhat less that 2 hours.

Getting to Vegazana University Campus (University of León)

The University of León has buildings at different locations.

In order to go from the town of León directly to Vegazana University Campus, there are three bus lines: 3, 4 and 12 (refer to the image below). The price per bus ticket is 1.20€.

If your accommodation is located further from the City Center of León, you may choose to take a taxi.
