The 1st Workshop on
Explainable AI in Education (xAI in Education)
This workshop focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, emphasizing the importance of explainable AI (xAI) in teaching, learning and technology-based assessment activities. This workshop aims to analyze challenges and opportunities for xAI in education by bring together students, educators,researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and discuss recent achievements and lessons learned by using AI in education and the importance of xAI in teaching, learning and technology-based assessment activities, in the development of information and communication technology infrastructure for digital education ecosystems. The importance of xAI for Education 4.0 and Education 5.0 is also tackled.

The xAI in Education workshop follows the AIAI 2026 official date.
- Paper Submission Deadline: 28 February, 2026
- Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: 19 April, 2026
- Camera Ready Submission/Registration: 8 May, 2026
- Early / Author registration by: 8 May, 2026
- Conference Dates: 16 – 19 July, 2026
Submission instructions
All papers should be submitted either in a doc/docx or in a pdf form and will be peer reviewed by at least 2 academic referees. Contributing authors must follow the AIAI2026’s paper format guidelines as far as the IFIP AICT file format.
Papers will be peer reviewed by at least two (-2-) members of the workshop’s program committee.
Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of AIAI VOLUME, under the Springer IFIP AICT Series.
